BRAVE Communities (Building Relationships Awareness Voices Engagement) making gratitude cards and honoring local military veterans and first responders on 9/11.

The September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance (9/11 Day) is a chance to honor and pay tribute to those killed and injured on September 11, 2001. By serving in your community helps transform 9/11 into a day of unity, empathy, and service, and extends the spirit of togetherness and compassion that immediately arose in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy.

Please join us for a virtual reflection, community-building dialogue, and gratitude card-making session on Saturday, September 11th, 4:00PM-5:00PM (Central Time). Connect with us via Zoom

And, we are encouraging young people (ages 5-18 years old) to be B.R.A.V.E. and be involved with community service and advocacy work. We are challenging young people to mobilize their peers to create as many gratitude cards by or on September 11th, so we may distribute them to local first responders and military veterans at a VA hospital the week of September 13th.

Who: Any individual, families, school, faith, community groups, sports team, after-school programs, and more.

What: Make "Thank You" card(s) to local first responders and military veterans for serving our nation.

Where: At your home, school, outdoors--wherever you want to have fun and share love to our local first responders and military veterans. We will Zoom together on 9/11 for a virtual connection to build community, reflect and pay tribute to our nation's heros, and time to create cards together too.

When: Saturday, September 11th, 4:00PM-5:00PM for our virtual community-building event. Please feel free to make as many gratitude cards as you wish at your own time and discretion before/during this virtual event.

Supplies: You may use your own crafts and supplies, or, if needed, card-making supplies will be available Friday, September 3rd or Saturday, September 4th. Please fill out this form for more details about making cards.

Completed Cards: We will organize completed cards dropoff and pickup on Saturday, September 11th and Sunday, September 12th, so we may distribute them the week of September 13th.
