In a world that has increasingly become more polarized, it can be challenging for many people to find their voice amidst a sea of political discourse. Even more so, it is quite difficult for people to make themselves feel seen and heard. Some of these negative feelings harbored by people are easy to discern when it comes to the low voter turnouts.

According to the Fair Vote, voter turnout in the United States is much lower than in other countries, hovering around 60% in presidential elections and 40% in midterm election years. Only 40% of the eligible voting population actually goes out to vote during the midterm election, which is less than half of those registered to vote! Among 18-29 years old, only 36% voted in 2018 elections.

It is more imminent than ever that people use their voice by voting. On the eve of Early Voting in Texas (10/24-11/4), join us at this interactive and engaging FREE community event with diverse, multi-generational local and global people exchanging ideas, concerns, hope, and inspiration for a renewed sense of shared civic purpose and bravery to be the change in this world.

Valerie DeBill, a representative from League of Women Voters-Austin, will share more about this upcoming mid-term election, and what to expect at the polls, on the ballot, and resources to better familiarize yourself with candidates and those way-down-the-ballot positions, that often get ignored yet vital roles for local and State policies.

Anticipated Agenda:
12:45pm Doors Open
1:00-1:30pm Know Before You Vote - presented by Valerie DeBill, League of Women Voters-Austin
1:30-2:15pm Small breakout/listening circles to discuss civic/community engagement + GOTV
2:15-3:00pm Networking

We invite any candidate running for public office to join us for this bipartisan community-building listen and share event.

And, BRAVE is hosting six wonderful social changemakers from Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia in October (Professional Fellows Program). They will provide an incredible global perspective of democracy, social change, and the importance of civic and community engagement.

Invite your friends, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers to join this community-building event. Free food and drinks with RSVP.
